Wolves Draft Dreaming Part 3 Print E-mail
Written by Drakesax
Less then 24 hours away form the draft.  Right now the Bulls taking Rose seems locked and loaded.  Then what happens next is anyone's guess.  Mine is that Beasley has too many teams scared and at the same time a few guys have surprised teams (Love, Mayo, Bayless).  Where does that leave our Wolves?  That leaves us in the spot behind the pick that must take Beasley, based on his talent ceiling alone he has to go #2... If you are interested in Beasley you've got to deal with the Heat but the Heat want a PG or a big.  I don't think the Heat really are interested in Love or Lopez.  That leads me to believe they are interested in Mayo or Bayless.  If that's the case that the Heat would like Mayo or Bayless they'll have to stay in the top four.  I don't see Mayo slipping past the 3 spot.  Who ever ends up picking 3 is taking Mayo.  The buzz is that Seattle is fine with Rose, Beasley, and Mayo falling off the board because they want Bayless. That can't add up if the Heat really want Mayo or Bayless but they don't want to stick with the #2 pick because Mayo and Bayless are gone by 5.  To me if the Heat are married to Mayo they have to take him at #2.  The #2 pick is valuable because everyone, even blind people, can see Beasley's talent ceiling.  Boom now the Wolves fall into the most valuable player in the draft, who until the end of March Madness was the #1 pick.  Do the Wolves take him and just roll with a true big somewhere later in the draft?  Do they move the pick for the largest ransom they can come up with and hope the pick they slide into can still land them Lopez/Love.  That's too much for right now maybe but I'll crunch these thoughts a little more and get back at it in the morrow.
