KG has just made it easy for me to cheer for the Lakers. The KG Commander is outrageous. I'm not that into shoes but $1017 for a pair of his sneakers? I understand that these are special autographed limited edition sneakers but $1017 for KG's autograph...?
I have my issues with Kobe. Right now he is probably, barring injury, the most dominant player in the NBA. King-James is pretty sick but if I needed one basket late in a game and fourth-quarter Foye wasn't available I would probably have to take Kobe. I only caught the second half of last nights game. I didn't see PP go down with the injury in the first place. Nor was I all to excited when he made his comeback. The six points in two trips was pretty impressive but I just find it hard to get excited for Boston. I used to think it was cool that the Red Sox were sticking it to the Yankees. I sort of dug it when the Pats won their first championship. Now even though the Lakers have tons of rings, and they've done fairly well recently too I would rather see them pummel the Celtics, then watch the Boston Three Party pull one off. I don't think its sour grapes on my part. I just think its arrogance on the part of the Celtics. The whole we not me thing feels forced. I think that KG really thinks its his time to get a championship. I think that this commemorative $1017 shoe is nuts. That's the sort of thing you put out after you win. I'd think about paying $1017 if it was the actual shoe KG wore during games. Just to have him sign the inside of my show box, come on that's just stupid. When I was younger I thought sports memorabilia was a worth-while investment. That sooner or later my Barry Bonds autographed baseball would be worth something, sort of like the Mickey Mantle rookie card my Dad had. Maybe if I hold onto this stuff for say five or six generations it might have some value. What sense does paying over a thousand dollars for a pair of sneakers that you probably will never actually wear make? KG needs to take a hint from his cuz and think about offering a slightly more affordable shoe. Who knows maybe its just a midwestern or Minnesota thing to want attainable value attached to my purchases. That's probably why I'd rather see the smoke and mirrors of show-time then pork-barrel spending spree of the Boston Me Party.
