I just got finished watching the press conference of Roger Goodell's concerning the Patriots Spygate situation. It was not all that revelatory.
What did we find out? Basically nothing of consequence. We all knew that the Patriots were doing some taping of their opponents and we got to see some grainy footage of that. It was said that they only did it to division which was clearly not true. There was footage of both the Chargers and the Browns which are not division opponents. Goodell met with Matt Walsh for upwards of three hours. He discovered that there was no taping of the Rams walk through during the Patriots first Super Bowl Trip. Ugh what an annoying story.
We waited months for this? To discover that Goodell isn't going to do anything? This team should be fucking taken to the cleaners. A piddly fine and a loss of a number 31 pick isn't enough. They clearly need to get something more. They had an unfair advantage when it came to these games. Goodell should have went crazy on these guys. If he is going to sit in his office and suspend players like Pacman Jones, Chris Henry, Michael Vick for their transgressions certainly cheating on this scale warranted more penalties. Here is what I would've given in addition to what the Patriots already lost: 1 million dollar fine on Bellicheck and another million on Robert Kraft, loss of two more first round picks, and a combo of other draft picks lost. They deserve to get sent back to the stone age. This is a sham. It was a lame attempt by the NFL to sweep up this mess. Shame on you Roger Goodell. You messed up here.
