Boof doesn't seem to be able to throw strikes tonight. Its too bad looks like he might slide to 1-3. I like Boof and I think he's got a lot of moxie. Bass came in to replace him and only lasted for a handful of batters. After an intentional walk Bass signaled to the dugout for help. Matty G came in to replace him and the Twins got out of the inning giving up a scant four runs. Now, we are looking at the bottom of the fifth with the Go-Go Twins (Span and Gomez) sucking it up hard. Span was trying to tie the game up with no one on. Gomez just looks lost some nights. Although it should be pointed out that Span looks just as lost losing one in the lights in the first leading to the first run of the game... [UPDATED] The added fielding work the Twins took before the game didn't seem to help Span as he came in for the ball and lost it at the last second. Luckily it caught a piece of his glove and it only ended up being a double. Unluckily Boof wasn't on tonight and ended up letting the runner score. Our offense hasn't been horrible tonight but a few of the guys just aren't clicking quite yet. Lamb looks like a professional hitter but he's just not getting lucky. Lamb more then likly will start finding a few more holes out there in the opposing defense. Delmon Young isn't hitting that well quite yet either. I think Young might have put a little too much pressure on himself to perform right out of the gate. With time I think he'll come around. Gomez needs to play every day, but I'm not sure if he should stay in the lead off spot. Harris might find his way into the lead off before too long. Don't get me wrong I love Gomez and I really love him on the bases. Right now he's not a tough out at all. Moving down in the order might let him build a little bit of confidence that he can then turn into 100 plus stolen base seasons down the line. Span is a man playing on borrowed time. If Cuddy came back tomorrow Span would probably find himself in AAA. I think Matt Tolbert has made Nick Punto useless. I'd rather see Tolbert out there hitting doubles, like tonight, instead of Punto (the seasoned vet) looking like a little leaguer. Maybe when Cuddy comes back they'll send Punto down to AAA to give him a chance to learn how to coach or something so he's got a way to make a living come this time next year? Baby Jesus looked pretty good last night. He called a good game behind the plate, found a few holes on his left field slap singles and was even able to stretch out those omnipresent legs of his. The Baby J really needs to get on a roll and I'm not against him taking a swing or two for the fences. I guess as long as he still calls a solid game, slaps a few to left, blocks the plate like a republican does taxes and absolves the sins of the world I can't really ask for anything more. SPAN ALMOST MADE THE CATCH OF THE YEAR SO FAR IN THE TOP OF THE SEVENTH. Running to his left Span was going full tilt while blowing a bubble with his gum, slid on his knees and almost made the catch...sweet totally sweet. Right now we are headed to the bottom of the 7th needing four runs. We'll see but I'm not so sure tonight is our night. More later! By the way you should all check out the Wall Street Journal's website its pretty tight. [Update] Gomez just had a tight infield hit. Now he's dogging off at first. I'm thinking second is probably his tonight. Can Matty T bring him home? More to follow.
