The Tiger Hype Print E-mail

FIrst off I want to make it known that I watch a lot of Sportscenter. I suppose that isn't a huge revelation but I am beginning to hate it somewhat. For the last two weeks or so it has been TIger Woods constantly. Great player, no doubt. Maybe the greatest ever. But come on...talk about others.

Now I understand that he is the most popular player on tour. But he isn't the only one playing. All they talk about is whether he can make a Grand Slam this year. Yeah it would be unreal if he did it. But talk about someone else too. They are in the third round of the Masters and he is many shots down. Still they talk about him. I really can't stant it anymore. I want to hear stories about Vijay, Retief, Ernie. Just somebody else. Yes I get that Woods is competitive. Wow big shock, most athletes are. Then the story is about his new child and how it affects him. Another huge revelation, children changes a parent.

 

I like to watch golf on tv. It is something you can leave if you want and don't have to follow incessantly. Instead you can leave it on and do other stuff as you go. I enjoy all the tremendous shots and the interesting stories about the players. However, with it being such a Tiger-centric affair I find myself less and less inclined to watch the Masters. Maybe another player just needs to step it up and challenge TIger a little more. It isn't his fault that no one comes close to him. But until that day comes I feel we are stuck in the Tiger news loop. Blah
