The rotation appears to be set for the Twins, at least to start the year. We've got Livan Hernandez, Scott Baker, Boof Bonser, Kevin Slowey, and Nick Blackburn. That's right...Francisco is missing.
It appears the Francisco just isn't quite ready. It has been decided that he needs more time to work back up to major league strength. HIs go to pitch, the slider, isn't quite what it used to be. It has already been decided that the pitch will be used less and less this year because of the incredible strain it puts on his arm. So the pitching coaches are working on improving his changeup so that he can mix his speeds better. I think this is a good idea. Liriano can still be a really special pitcher. He needs to refine his throwing motion so it won't be so violent. This will add years of service to his career. The patience the Twins are showing is smart.
