Wolves Draft Dreaming part 2 Print E-mail
Written by Drakesax
I've been watching all of the conference tournaments this weekend.  I know the Wolves need to get bigger and stronger in the front court.  It'd be great if we could land a killer point like Rose.  We've got some players that may or may not pan out on the present roster.  I think it's worth a few gambles to add some killer potential/youth to the front court...

The Pac-10 has some serious talent.  Kevin Love would be a fun player to add to the Wolves mix.  His ability to start breaks, create his own shot and play passable defense would be great on this team.  I'm not quite sure where he is going to fall in the coming draft, if he comes out that is.  I imagine if UCLA has a decent run in the tournament, especially if they win, Love will jump out and turn pro.  Love is the Pac-10 player of the year and has honestly had a solid all around season this year.  Will he turn pro is a fairly interesting question, if he stays in college he could end up a number 1 pick instead of just a top ten.  It might be best fo Love to come out in a year he doesn't go number 1 overall because he'd end up on a better team.  I'd love to see the Wolves take a shot at Brook Lopez.  I think the Wolves could possibly swing a deal or two to land a pick in the mid-teens.  If they have a second pick in the teens in this draft they are going to land a decent player.  Back to Lopez, if they don't get the first pick or the second I think Lopez is their man.  Greg Oden is going to be banging against the Wolves for the next ten plus years for the Blazers.  Lopez is a true seven footer.  Lopez can play defense, and he's got some offensive weapons.  More importantly I think he would team up well personality-wise and general demeanor with Al Jefferson.  The one-two punch of Lopez-Jefferson would give the Wolves a respectable front court.  Respectability in the front court is what I'm looking for in the coming season.  Adding weapons to the front court takes off pressure on the back-court.  Plus with two gifted scorers in the front-court the Wolves could all of a sudden start playing a lot more pick and rolls and they add that extra bite to their penetration game.  Then you look at the roster over the next season and you see what you need to add with your three first round picks next season.  All of that and I think DeAndre Jordan has a decent amount of flop to him.  I think Jordan could end up being just another big who doesn't work.  Lopez is producing in the Pac-10, and the Pac-10 is the best league in college this year.

If the Wolves don't move up into the teens and they are holding onto their two second round picks what about Robin Lopez?  If the Wolves already have Brook Lopez adding Robin would be sweet.  Brook Lopze-Jefferson would be a nightly double-double-duo.  Robin Lopez would be a great substitute, creating a great second line of Robin Lopez-Smith.  I think adding two active shot blocking bigs can only help the Wolves.  That is what I've been thinking about this weekend.  The Wolves should add the Lopez twins!
