MN Sports Shot

It's the question that happens every year to those few teams who actually have a shot win the lottery? How hard do we keep trying? Many times over the years various teams have been accused of doing it. Last year, the Celtics were the ones being most accused. Last year was a good year to do it. WIth two of the best college players in years were available in Kevin Durant and Greg Oden. The Celtics did not end up with the top pick which ended up going to the Trail Blazers. Then the Celtics went out and traded almost their whole team away save Paul Pierce and Rajon Rondo. They preceded to bring in KG and Ray Allen. Now they have the top record in the league. So tanking didn't work but brlliant front office moves did...

Now that the Twolves are in full rebuilding mode the question has arisen them. There are several blue chip players expected to be in this year's draft. Clearly the two best though are Derrick Rose and Michael Beasley. It's not for sure that they will be available since they still need to declare being that they are freshman. Both of these players would fit wonderfully into Minnesota's lineup. Rose would give us a slashing point guard with tenacity and scoring ability. Beasley would give us toughness,inside scoring, and rebounding to help Big Al. If we are able to get one of the two first picks in the draft, what luck we would have. However, the twolves are notoriouly unlucky in lottery. The year Shaq and Alonzo Mournng were in the draft and we had the worst record, we lost and got the third pick. We drafted Christian Laettner. Ask Twolves fans how that went.

My advice tp the Twolves: Play your asses off. See how many wins you can get. Let's see all these young guys play. We have a lot of talent. Let's see if they can mesh. Rose or Beasley would be great though.Let's just let the chips fall where they may. Even with the worst record there is still only a 25 percent chance of getting the 1st pick. In the end we need wins, not hopes.
