The Wolves are B-R-U-T-A-L!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't even begin to list all of the reasons they suck right now. I think the number one reason right now is Wittman. Small ball is all the rage in the NBA right now I'll grant any and all that fact. The basic idea being that you take a dominant and usually very athletic power-forward or 4 and play them at the center or five position. A player like Shaq might be able to man-handle a KG or even a Al Jefferson on the offensive side of the ball but there is no way Shaq can guard a quicker more fluid "small-ball" center. The bigger player like Shaq's advantage in the offensive game can be limited through trickery via zone defenses. That having been said the Wolves current small ball line-up is not just small its puny. Al Jefferson isn't the completely the proto-type "small-ball" center. Big Al has all of the offensive moves but he's not fluid or athletic enough to really give someone like Shaq a ton of head-aches and in the long run he just ends up getting muscled out of rebounds. When you couple Jefferson with Gomes and Miller at the 4 and 3 respetively...well to me that's equivalent to a white flag. Miller is a decent option at the 3 spot but when the team is playing a tricky zone defense when Miller shifts over he finds himself on a big far too often. Gomes can briefly pass as a big man but any coach worth their salt would exploit his size sooner rather then later. Wittman on the other hand has yet to find a way to effectively stretch defensive pressure off of Big Al with Gomes spot-up ability or Millers down-town cold-blooded threes. What's the problem here? Does Witt think he's a freaking genius? I don't think that's the case. In all honesty I think Witt thought he had some nice tricks up his sleeve at the start of this season, I know we are barely 10 games into this campaign, but I think Witt's throwing in the towel. I think he doesn't have the energy creatively or mentally to take the challenge that is the T-Wolves on right now. Its too bad because now would be a great time to have a thinking-man's coach like Flip or D-Casey. My only concern is when does Witt get the boot? I hope its before Thanksgiving but if we don't axe him before then then I hope its not till after the All-Star Break when we all but have the Ricky Rubio sweep-stakes wrapped up. Who knows by then we may have completely blown up the roster. I love Big Al but I can't say he's trade proof right now. This team is so bad that we can't plan on keeping anyone. Down with Wittman...down with Wittman
