I was pretty excited when Delmon Young was traded to the Minnesota Twins. To name a few things that should make anyone excited about the trade, his strong arm in right, potential for some over-due offense for the Twins, and his youth. Though it's his youth that also has me worried.

The Vikings ended the year with a few gaping holes. After they passed on most of their free agents have a few more. With the opening of FA this past week the Vikes started answering some questions. They've still got a few to answer such as: who is going to be our primary back-up at QB (can we really live with Brooks for another year?), will Shiancoe cut the mustard as a pass-catching TE, who's going to play DE for the Vikes this next year, do we need to add depth at LB, the passing defense was awful do we need help at the CB position to go along with the moves at safety, and do we have enough offensive play-makers to get teams out of the eight and nine man fronts?...

It's the question that happens every year to those few teams who actually have a shot win the lottery? How hard do we keep trying? Many times over the years various teams have been accused of doing it. Last year, the Celtics were the ones being most accused. Last year was a good year to do it. WIth two of the best college players in years were available in Kevin Durant and Greg Oden. The Celtics did not end up with the top pick which ended up going to the Trail Blazers. Then the Celtics went out and traded almost their whole team away save Paul Pierce and Rajon Rondo. They preceded to bring in KG and Ray Allen. Now they have the top record in the league. So tanking didn't work but brlliant front office moves did...
