I only started watching this game in the second period. Sort of suffering through a cold of my own. I am so glad that I remembered this game was on. There are tons of Minnesota ties playing in this game most notably Alex Gologoski. This is hockey and this is why the NHL will become popular again. This is back and forth non-stop action. As soon as one team gains control of the puck they are sprinting at the opposing offensive zone. Not a lot of feeling out or set-up in the neutral zones. This is just grip it and rip it. Ovechkin’s goals have been unreal, his third (shortly after taking a shot to the ribs that has defenitly slowed him) was right off the draw and it was truly sniped in the top shelf. Fleury had no chance to even see the puck there was so much traffic in front of him. Its going to overtime. 4 on 4 hockey is crazy-fun. There is so much space, these teams are so freaking fast and so loaded with talent. Man now the Caps are on a 4-3 power play with 2:20 to play with 30 more seconds on the game then [...]

Lots of physical play through-out the game. Lots of chances. Pretty good goal-tending despite six goals in regulation. I mean come on the Wild’s second goal wasn’t the keepers fault. For that matter the Wings’ 1st & 3rd goals weren’t Hardings/Backstrom’s fault either. Here are a few more thoughts. Welcome back Brent Burns. Let’s hope you are back for good. The cheers at the X when Burns took the ice for the first time was great. I think that adding a quality defense-men at this time of the season is like pulling off a great trade. Let’s hope Burns finds a little form and that he really is in great physical condition. Clutterbuck gets f-ed with a lot. I know he leads the league in hits but come on he gets run at a lot when he’s not involved in plays. Earl’s goal was pretty sweet. I think even though they didn’t get 2 points tonight I’m still pretty glad that Earl wasn’t picked up via waivers. Bruno is a freaking stud and I’m going to be really bummed out if we trade him. Bruno and Nolan give the Wild veteran leadership that can’t be overlooked if we can force [...]

As we trudge through winter Minnesotans often find solace in plopping down and watching a little hockey in front of the tv. Well it’s about to be the best day for those fans-Minnesota Day of Hockey is this coming Saturday. It has become a winter tradition in Minnesota for this day. I for one am quite excited. The biggest draw for me is the outdoor hockey played by several high school teams from across the state. Those games are Rochester John Marshall Vs Saint Paul Johnsonboys)and Minnetonka vs Stillwater(girls). There is also White Bear Lake vs Duluth East at the X. Those are some quality high school games. Then we come to the toppers. You’ve got the Gopher men’s hockey team playing the Huskies from pathetic Saint Cloud(I am unapologetic Gophers fan, deal with it). That game is followed up by the Wild taking on the Ducks of Anaheim. And last but not least the Houston Aeros(Wild’s minor league affiliate) takes on the Toronto Marties in a very late game(tape delay). I like how Minnesota does this. It is a really unique event that no other place in America could do. There is not the level of high school hockey [...]

Saw this today on Twitter and I just have to pass it along. Petr Sykora plays for the Wild this season. At the beginging of the year he sustained a concussion and since coming back from his injury he hasn’t gotten that much burn with the top two lines. Instead of playing as a fourth line winger Todd Richards and Sykora had a heart to heart and decided to not dress him unless the Wild need him in the top two lines. The whole things gotten blown way out of proportion and now its a hilarious Twitter topic. Here’s the link, check it out and let us know what you think.
This week has been all over the place for MN sports. Half-court shots for overtime. Lots of goals. Then come Sunday its Vikings football time. Let’s get things going then. Wild This is going to be the biggest deal of the week. Clutterbuck gets a cheap shot by Gonchar. Here’s the link. Also, Gonchar wasn’t suspended. To add fuel to this fire Andrew Ebbet was slewfooted last night, no video yet. The week really started with the Wild’s 6-5 overtime shoot-out victory. Monday’s game against the Penguins was physical and there were again a ton of goals. All in all we beat Crosby 4-3. Then Wednesday we took it too the Canucks. 5-2 on the first night of a back t0 back. Here is John Scott’s fight too just cause it was bad-ass. Thursday could be considered a let-down but only really in the win-loss column. Harding played a great game and the Wild were out shot but stayed in the game and had some great chances in the closing minutes to tie the game back up but they just ran into a hot goalie last night. Outside of the loss as mentioned before Andrew Ebbet was lost for the [...]

That’s right I am calling out the refs tonight. They called a completely uneven game tonight against the Wild. It wasn’t the fighting penalties that I care about. It’s the small things. Giving Derek Boogaard a 10 minute misconduct on a forearm shove and a shot down the rink. Come on!? Ridiculous. There have been worse things to happen in a hockey game. The Rolston penalties were garbage. It has been like this all series. The disparity in penalties is absolutely shameful. If they want the Avalance to win so badly, just make us pull our goaltender right away and let them take get cheap goals. They had 3 separate 5 on 3′s in this game. I don’t think I have ever seen that in a hockey game. I don’t want to get even in the next game and have everything swing our way. What I want is a fair and eve game to be called. Don’t give one team or the other an unfair advantage. It felt unfair tonight. Watching tonight’s game felt we were a man down the whole time because of the refs. I also kind of wish Lemaire had sent Simon, Fedoruk, and Voros out there [...]

Looks like I have been proved wrong. The lineup that has most worked for the Wild has been the so called “goon” lineup. They don’t allow us to be pushed around. We are tougher that last year. Boogaard, Simon, Fedoruk, and Voros make us a better team. When the WIld made the trade for Simon at the trade deadline, I said I would become less interested. In fact, I became more interested. The brand of hockey the Wild play isn’t the most exciting. In the end we get more wins out of it. I will be watching every step of the way. Blog this on Blogger Digg this!
First off must give a shout out to Designflaw!!! The Wild were scrappy in the corners last night, scrappy off the draw and scrappy in front of the net. All that scrappy-ness led to our first real banner for the rafters. Division Champions will look nice next to that our fans are number one bs banner. I thought signing the fridge was a waste of time earlier this season but it turns out he’s sort of a good fit here with the Wild. Seriously who would have seen him having such an impact at this time of the season? Pretty much this is just a congrats to the WIld. Blog this on Blogger Digg this!
Foster went into the boards hard in the second. It didn’t look good for his left leg. It made me cringe in real-time and it made me almost sick to watch in slow-motion. Let’s hope Foster isn’t hurt too bad or that at least his career isn’t over. That was an awful hit. More then one Wild player made sure to get a few good shots in so far, the game is about to go into OT…. I haven’t been watching a ton of Wild games. I guess I picked a fairly decent one to watch tonight. After Foster got hurt the Wild were flat for a while. I was expecting the Boogey man or someone to step up and crush some one on the Sharks roster. A straight up thumping didn’t happen, but the Wild did get way more physical. Shepard laid a few amazing checks. Beniot, I think it was him he’s wearing an odd number, lit someone up big-time on a fore-check that had the home fans even applauding. Gabby has two power play goals and has looked really good to me. From time to time I get the feeling he isn’t as involved as he could [...]
