What can I say about the game that hasn’t already been said? I will try anyway. Crushing. Demoralizing. Cursed. Fumbles. What other words can be used to describe what happened to the Vikings last night? I am sure some of us want to use expletives and scream them from the rooftops. Sometimes I ask why I bother watching when we always do something to lose? It’s in my blood, my mind, my psyche, my everything. Some people scoff at us sports lovers saying that it’s trivial. Maybe it is a little. In the end after this game, our lives will go on(unless you had a heart attack last night which I am pretty sure I might have). I could go through all the bad plays, the fumbles, missed opportunities, or the INTERCEPTION but I won’t. Everyone knows what happened and I won’t add anything terribly meaning to the discussion. I just want that pass back. Just let us take that one pass by Favre back. That’s all I want. I will let people slap me in the face until I am black and blue to get that pass back. One thing I will comment on is Troy Aikman and basically [...]

Watching the game and I’m going to update with my thoughts via bullet point through-out. The first drive was awesome. The way the Vikes used short-timed passes to get the Saints off their game was great. Then to finish it off with Peterson running right up the gut was sweet. The defense needs to start tackling. The Thomas touchdown had three missed tackles. Leber missing the worst. Favre is getting knocked around a bunch. Rice with the Sharper-shimmy was amazing. F-Darren Sharper, when he hit Favre up high it just showed his lack of class. The late hit on Favre on that drive was super weak. 93 played that one like a true-thug. The Saints aren’t perfect. That drive was weak. The fake reverse into the hurry-up reverse was lame. Reggie Bush was super lucky he didn’t lose 20 on that play. Cedric Griffin took a bit of a lame semi-cheap shot on Brees and I’m sure that was pay-back for the hits on Favre. The Saints second touchdown has to be chalked up to beating Leber three times. It’ll go down as Brinkley and Sapp giving up the touchdown but Leber isn’t tackling all that well today and he [...]

Here is my list of what the Vikings need to win today. Brett needs to be let loose. We need to not focus on establishing anything but a lead The defense needs to play its game and not worry about the Saints game We need to look over the tape from last season because we won that game due to our solid play on defense and offense despite our suspect special teams play in that game Let Kluwe just kick the ball Remember where Shaper is on the field Make the freaking Saints worry about us, we’ve got the much better defense Bring extra pressure from the second level, with Kevin Williams and Ray Edwards injured we need to bring blitzers from time to time just to keep their offensive line second-guessing If Winfield can play he needs to be on the field the entire game, but so does Sapp. We are going to need a nickel-back on the field the whole game. Peterson needs to be an animal, and not lose the ball Turn-overs are going to decide this game, who ever wins this battle wins the game Time of possession won’t matter, it didn’t last week and it [...]

It’s been so long since I posted I almost feel like I will be off my game. Oh well, let’s see how you like this. The NFL and college football coaching carousel is in full swing this year. There aren’t as many NFL firings as the Great Purge of 2008 but there were a few open jobs: Seattle, Washington, and Buffalo plus possibly Oakland and Jacksonville. Washington has been filled by Mike(can’t win without Elway) Shanahan and Seattle has been filled by Pete(so long USC)Carroll. Which brings me to my main point. The players in the NFL are professionals who are well paid for their services. The coaching changes and things being in flux is part of the business. It should be expected and people shouldn’t really feel bad for the players. Who I do feel bad for is the college players of today. With the NCAA being run more like a corporation more and more, college players(especially in basketball and football) are treated as commodities, not as student-athletes. It’s sad and disappointing. Which brings me to Lane Kiffin. This guy symbolizes all that is wrong with college football when it comes to coaches. After working for Tennessee for barely [...]

I just got finished watching the press conference of Roger Goodell’s concerning the Patriots Spygate situation. It was not all that revelatory. What did we find out? Basically nothing of consequence. We all knew that the Patriots were doing some taping of their opponents and we got to see some grainy footage of that. It was said that they only did it to division which was clearly not true. There was footage of both the Chargers and the Browns which are not division opponents. Goodell met with Matt Walsh for upwards of three hours. He discovered that there was no taping of the Rams walk through during the Patriots first Super Bowl Trip. Ugh what an annoying story. We waited months for this? To discover that Goodell isn’t going to do anything? This team should be fucking taken to the cleaners. A piddly fine and a loss of a number 31 pick isn’t enough. They clearly need to get something more. They had an unfair advantage when it came to these games. Goodell should have went crazy on these guys. If he is going to sit in his office and suspend players like Pacman Jones, Chris Henry, Michael Vick for [...]

The game is slipping away. It started so brilliantly for us. Tons of big hits, tons. Now the Wild are just getting unlucky it feels. They have controled a lot of the play but the Avs are just sort of a cheap team. They’ve got a handful of guys that can really piss you off more then they can play. It seems like the Avs are happy to just play Wild hockey and suffocate the life out of the game. Gabby really needs to get something going. I understand that we have a lot more shots on goal, but a lot of them are worthless shots. We are letting ourselves be taken out of the game… I like seeing Reits in the game, he’ll be a nice addition to Burns, Schultz, and Johnsson next season- I guess we’ll probably play Skoula too. This is by no means me throwing in the towel (we are down two right now in gave five this is far from over) but its obvious we need to find some more offense next season. Varos, Beniot and Shepard all seem like they’ve come to play. I’m not going to be super upset about some of our [...]
