I am going to live blog the Gophers vs. Buckeyes game. I will share some of my thoughts and insights.
1.Damian Johnson is so damn athletic. He can really create some opportunities for himself and others.
2.Devoe Joseph is going to have his hands full with Evan Turner because of Turner’s size and quick first step.
3. Despite John Wall’s play, I think Evan Turner so far is my Player of the Year.
4. Tubby’s bench has to be one of the deepest in the country. He can play 10 deep. I doubt many other coaches can say that.
5. Every time I watch a Gopher game, they can’t shoot free throws effectively. Is it me who is cursing them or do they always do that?
6. I really like Ohio’s ability to double team and recover.
7. Jesus Christ, Turner is straight destroying us. We need Ron Artest to guard that guy.
8. Even with the Buckeyes run, we are hanging in there. I think we need to get more looks for our shooters, specifically Hoffarber.
9. I am going to call this game a must-win(all games are must wins, I know that) but this one is huge. We need this game to show the tournament committee we deserve to be in the 65. It’s either this or make a run in the Big Ten Tourney.
10. We do have some soft bigs. Like Jeff said, Damian is making them look foolish with his work down low. Iverson in particular needs to put on some muscle and attack the basket more.
11. Where’s the famous Tubby press? We are down, we need to try and get some quick steals or turnovers.
12. We need a decent run here at the end of the first half. If we don’t, the second half may just seem like we are going through the motions.
13. The Buckeyes play a great 1-3-1 defense. They have so much quickness up top.
14. That’s the kind of attitude Sampson needs all the time. Attack the shit out of that basket with some authority.
15. They outshot us to death in that half. Let’s hope they don’t continue to shoot like that.
16. 70% shooting for a half? That’s sick!
17. He can be a little grating but I really like Clark Kellogg’s analysis. He usually says stuff I am thinking.
18. Joseph should be driving almost every play. Kick outs and low post dumps could give us some quick offense.
19. Athletes! Athletes! Athletes! The Buckeyes have much better athletes and it’s showing.
20. Where is the press? That gets us tons of turnovers and steals.
21. Like Jeff said, this game is over. Let’s just shoot 3s until our arms fall off. Let’s see what happens.
22. Right now, I would take Turner over Wall. He looks amazing. His size and athleticism is astounding.
23. The first decent athletic play by someone other than Johnson. Nice ups, Rodney.
24. Holy crap, the Buckeyes missed 2 shots in a row.
This game is going to hurt the Gophers chances at a bid for the NCAA. For this game, we don’t look like a tournament team. I think being down 2 players(Nolen and White) is hurting us. White’s size and athleticism inside would really help. Nolen’s defense on the perimeter would help immensely. We are going to need some wins in conference tourney to make the field of 65.

Interesting officiating so far in the game. I think that the Gopher’s have finally found a team that they match up well with. Both teams are really athletic. Westbrook’s size is really what kills us. If he was a little bigger we’d be such a more effective team.
Iverson and Sampson need to start playing more physically. Damien Johnson is manning up and playing like a beast but if one of those two sophomores would start playing a little more inspired inside it would blow my mind. The inside-outside game we could have amazing!
They are totally out defensing us. Turner is saying I want mention as the first pick overall. Joseph’s pass to Hoffarber inside was tight.
The Gopher’s need to get “Quick Shot Hoff” going outside cause without Hoffarber raining threes in this game its over.
What the hell was that inbound play from OSU’s baseline? Did anyone else see that? Come on. Hoffarber needs to just call a TO there instead of heaving the ball into the back-court.
Cobbs is horrible right now.
The second unit is killing us.
What a great match-up Hoffarber v. Diebler. Very interesting shooting battle. Hoff is having a harder time getting open looks.
Joseph blew open the lane right around the 3 minute mark. Then Turner came right back and shredded our entire team. They keep talking about how he can dribble threw traffic and its totally true. Turner has amazing handle.
We need to foul Turner, he’s going to take us to the hoop and score. Let’s just put him on the line and not let him get shots off.
III with the huge and one. That’s what happens when you play like a man down low. Finish Ralph finish.
To go with John’s posts in the second half the Gopher’s need to make baskets to set-up the press.
Iverson needs to move his feet on defense. If you aren’t going to have an offensive game move your damn feet. If Turner comes into the lane make his fucking pay. If you foul a guy hard every now and then he’s going to remember that and not go to the hole as hard the next time. Play like a man or go back to South Dakota.
The 1-3-1 is still killing us. Joseph has a better idea of what do to against it, attack the basket.
What Hoffarber was rocked there. What a freaking block. This game is over!
Might have been a goal-tend but still this game is over.
The Gophers might want to get some of the Viagra that is being non-stop throw at us via commercial break. Come on guys where is the life.
Ohio State is athletic and strong. The Gophers are just athletic. OSU is just running around the gym. Very impressive. The Gophers are much better then they look today.
Bufford and Diebler both have the Gophers perplexed. Turner is amazing and we knew he was going to be tough to deal with. Those two guys are just working us.
