What can I say that probably hasn’t already been said about the Vikings utter destruction of the Cowboys last Sunday?
Here is my take on the victory. The Vikings were pissed. They wanted to show all the prognosticators how wrong they were. A good portion of the national media had been picking the Cowboys to win this game. With how the Vikes played down the stretch and the streak the ‘Boys were on, I can’t blame them. Of course the main goal is to get to the Super Bowl. But why not have a little icing on that tasty cake? Make some people look stupid(I’m looking at you Trent Dilfer).
The game was won by the defensive line of the Vikings. They made Romo’s life a living hell for 3 and a half quarters. He was sacked 5 times and hit another dozen or so times. Don’t forget those 3 fumbles(2 lost) and the interception. The D kept giving the offense short fields. The breakout player was of course Ray Edwards. He was having his way with Mark Colombo. With him and Jared Allen going crazy on the outside the linebackers were free to roam and make plays. And they did.
Now we travel to New Orleans for a chance to go to the Super Bowl. New Orleans has never been to the Super Bowl while the Vikings haven’t been since 1977. So it’s a match-up of 2 long suffering franchises that desperately want to win the big game. I am going to break my rule for predictions. Here it is: 27-21 Vikings win. I think the pass rush is too much for the Saints offensive line. We get to Brees enough that he makes some mistakes.
