This week has been all over the place for MN sports. Half-court shots for overtime. Lots of goals. Then come Sunday its Vikings football time. Let’s get things going then.
Wild
- This is going to be the biggest deal of the week. Clutterbuck gets a cheap shot by Gonchar. Here’s the link. Also, Gonchar wasn’t suspended. To add fuel to this fire Andrew Ebbet was slewfooted last night, no video yet.
- The week really started with the Wild’s 6-5 overtime shoot-out victory.
- Monday’s game against the Penguins was physical and there were again a ton of goals. All in all we beat Crosby 4-3.
- Then Wednesday we took it too the Canucks. 5-2 on the first night of a back t0 back. Here is John Scott’s fight too just cause it was bad-ass.
- Thursday could be considered a let-down but only really in the win-loss column. Harding played a great game and the Wild were out shot but stayed in the game and had some great chances in the closing minutes to tie the game back up but they just ran into a hot goalie last night. Outside of the loss as mentioned before Andrew Ebbet was lost for the time being, to an apparent TJ Oshie slewfoot. Not that Minnesota fans really need another reason to hate TJ Oshie but there’s a little fuel to the Wild v Blue’s fire. The game highlights.
- As always when you need Wild information on the fly check out Russo’s Twitter account.
- Just in case you weren’t keeping score at home the Wild had another winning week going 2-1, if you don’t count the Blackhawk’s game if you do its 3-1.
Timberwolves
- Memphis is in town tonight. I still stand by the opinion that the Wolves should do anything and everything they can to score Rudy Gay.
- Unlike the Wild they Wolves have scored three losses with no wins.
- Losses aren’t that big of a deal to the Wolves or to me for this season. Its what happens inside the game that matters.
- Corey Brewer sunk a half-court shot to send the game to overtime, then the Wolves took the Rockets to 3 OT’s until the Wolves ran out of gas and the Rockets put them away.
- The Wolves had their hands full in the Mile High City and I really think we have serious match-up problems with the Nuggets. This is the game that really started the Al’s for sale rumors.
- Despite C-Brews best efforts from above the Wolves didn’t have what it took to out-duel the Rockets. In this game it really came down to little to no answer for Aaron Brooks. I know that Brewer is supposed to be our stopper but you can’t really always put our 2 on the other team’s 1. When its the Rockets we are really stuck. Flynn/Sessions aren’t big enough to stick with him. If we slide Brewer over then who’s got Ariza/Battier.
- The game against Memphis just went to show the week on a whole. No freaking effort. Come on guys you are getting paid to play. We all know you can’t hang with the Lakers, but show up. Memphis isn’t the Lakers but they aren’t the Wolves either. I really think that we fleeced them on the Mayo-Love trade, but now we need to do what ever it is we can to land Rudy Gay.
