Thoughts on baseball

I am watching the World Series.  Its the top of the ninth game six with the Yankees up 7-3 leading the series 3-2 overall.  The Yankees are so frustrating but its not just the Yankees its baseball.  (Matt Stairs just put one off the upper-deck facade foul and then lined out to Jeter) There is no parity.  The Pirates will never win the series.  The Marlin’s got lucky twice on all in moves, but those wins showed the better teams in baseball that farm systems are just as important as free agent dollars.  The Marlin’s saga will never happen again.  Periodically a well built team with a super-star like the Cardinals will pull off a great post-season run.  Teams with smaller to middle of the road revenue streams can develop talent but once that talent hits the free agent market the handful of large revenue stream teams will snatch it up.  Where does that put baseball and where does that put its fans?
