Hitting the open man…aka five in a row

I think the one and only reason we pulled off the win was the dribble drive and kick out.  I’ve got a few more things to cover here in more depth.  So, as always bang the read more button.  I’ll also include a few key links.

Bring back the “Fourth Quarter Foye” campaign.  Look right now we don’t have much.  I think if the team starts to market Foye he’ll probably go ice cold again but they need to start rustling up something.  Foye’s last five games have been off the hook.  Right now Foye is playing the Wolves out of their first round pick, an issue or problem that I don’t think we should worry about.  Let’s face it if Rubio doesn’t opt into this years draft there won’t be a clear-cut top pick at least not right now in my eyes anyhow.  Right now when the game matters Foye seems to be bringing his “A” but at the same time early in contests Foye still dribbles around a little bit too much for my liking.  Its odd I think that Bassy should run the point for the entire game sans the final say eight minutes.

Last night Bassy had 11 assists to pair with his 17 points.  Bassy didn’t shoot that well going 5-11 from the floor including 2-5 from beyond the arc and 5-7 from the line.  One of those misses was in crunch time.  Bassy isn’t a shooter and considering how bad he’s been over his career I’ll take a 5-11 game from him especially when he’s pushing the pace like he was last night.  Bassy brings pace, vision and charisma to the PG position for the Wolves.  Bassy gives us an option to stress opposing defenses with his pace and his “New York” attitude at the point.  When Bassy throws a no look or behind the back pass its fluid and entertaining when Foye throws a no look pass it hurts to watch.  Bassy threads the needle with cross-court bounce passes that find players in space.  I’m tired of watching Wolves games where guys come off of screens or simply shake their man only to have to adjust to the incoming pass that totally defeats their being open.

Carney is coming into his own, its just that simple.  Carney explodes at the basket when he drives.  Carney knocks down open shots, especially three’s.  Carney is learning to play defense.  Carney is great in space on the break.  Carney is finding spacing on the offensive end of the court.  Carney has the hops to be a bother on the glass at both ends.  Carney is coming, just be-wary.

The Wolves have a pretty big game coming up on Tuesday against the Heat.  I am going to of course going to be watching Bassy push the pace, Carney play out of his mind, Foye control the 4th, Big Al destroy anyone the Heat throw at him, Love clean the glass, D-Wade create mad match-up issues, the Matrix lobby for a trade, and Beasley get worked by Gomes.

And here are those links I promised:
