Brewer’s open look goes down…but it still looked awful

First quarter against the Pistons and Cory Brewer is killing. It seems like when he’s given the chance/freedom to open it up right off the bat he can. Brewer’s jumper still sucks but he’s coming at the basket hard over the past week. I don’t remember seeing Brewer taking it to the whole in college and I haven’t seen much of that this year.

Starting about two weeks ago someone must have gotten into his ear and now he’s slicing to the basket when ever he can. Brewer had a ball squirt his way late in the first when Marco stayed with a rebound and saved a ball from going out of bounds with a crazy bounce pass between Prince’s legs. Brewer had all the space in the world and his open-look jumper was so ugly I had to laugh. The ball came out of Brewers hand like a knuckle-ball and almost had this counter clock-wise side spin to it. That wasn’t his best shot of the night…

Brewer was on a quasi-fastbreak and he slashes from the right of the basket. Three Pistons collapse on him, Brewer does a circus spin, into a reverse lay-up-with extra “english” off the glass. I think it ended up being number two on Sports Centers’ Top Ten and it was so unlike Brewer. I really like this new agressive almost cocky Brewer. The only problem with this tonight was the aggressive cocky Brewer was only there in the first quarter. He had ten points in the frist ten minutes of the game. Saddly, Brewer finished with ten points. Ten points tonight and sixteen points this past Sunday is great for Brewer but he’s going to need to find a way to not only be in the game for more then 15mn a night, he’s going to need to find a way to play and contribute for more then 15mn a night. I think he’s capable, he just hasn’t shown a complete game quite yet.
