Here is the third installment of the quick hitters…

Twins:

  • Right now the Twins are sort of in a weird place.  They made a great move last week by sending Livan packing and bringing up Liriano.  They weren’t able to make any moves to add extra arms to the pen.  Even though they added a better starter they might be at a net loss because Livan was/is an innings eater and Liriano might not eat as many innings.  Liriano should give the Twins a better shot at winning the games he starts.  I still think it was a good move.  Now, we’ll see if we’ve got anything worth while on the farm to aid our ailing pen.
  • Monroe and his one arm swing are gone.  Along with his 8 homers and .202 average.  In his place, the long-time minor leaguer Randy Ruiz.  The thought is when Cuddy is healthy Ruiz is back in AAA.
  • Alexi is probably done for the summer so that means we might have to see Adam Everett playing in the field more then we’d like.  Watching him ply his craft at SS is troublesome and watching him at 2nd isn’t much better.  At least you don’t have to worry as much about his throws to first from second.
  • The bull-pen needs to get their heads out of their butts while they are away from the Dome.  For that matter the whole staff does.

Vikings:

  • Training camp is sort of boring.  The biggest battle right now is the starting nickel back position.  I love to watch the Benny Sapp/Charles Gordon/Marcus McCauley dog-fight as much as anyone else but come on its not that compelling.
  • Marcus Johnson is trying to prove he’s not dead just yet but is this a showing of him finally coming around or just proving that Ryan Cook was a reach and doesn’t deserve a starting role.  I can hardly call this a battle.  Chilli seems to still be backing his guy Cook.
  • The Brett F situation needs to be resolved before we can really get excited for the Vikings.  So here is hoping he’s moved soon.

T-Wolves:

  • The schedule comes out today.  Not much else is going on via the T-Wolves front.
  • I’m hoping we’ll have some more room for trade speculation coming in the next few weeks.

Wild:

  • The Wild have done nothing this past week.  Sort of like the rest of their summer.  The Wild have done things but they really haven’t done much of anything in all honesty.
